The Craven + Co. team produced dinners for the LIVESTRONG Foundation for several years in Sacramento, California.  My friend, Robyn, knows Sacramento and Cali in general, so I asked her for a restaurant recommendation the first time I went.  She gave me Ella.  I went for lunch during my first site visit and then continued to drag my team with me every time we stepped foot in Sacramento.

Ella is wide open but somehow cozy.  The design reminds me of shabby chic with reclaimed shutter walls mixed with airy floor-to-ceiling drapes and grand scale pendant lights.

Literally everything we tried on the menu was amazing.  The menu items are detailed and might leave you wondering what the heck you just ordered, but trust me, it will exceed your expectations.

They also take pride in their cocktails. I recommend trying the Elderflower Gimlet {vodka, elderflower + lime}. I’ve “tried" it more than once.

My favorite tables in the restaurant are the two chef’s tables.  They are gorgeous and large enough to seat 12 to 14 people.  They also designed the space to section off areas of the restaurant to create private dining rooms.  We highlight that on our curated private event space feature here.

Ella is part of a restaurant group created by the Selland family.  I haven’t been to their other restaurants but based on the consistency and creativity of Ella I’ve seen over the years, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend any of them. The Selland family has high standards for their staff and menus.  Ella’s sister restaurants are The Kitchen and Selland’s Market Café.
